HEPA Air Filters
A HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is a type of air filter designed to trap very small particles, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and tobacco smoke. To meet HEPA standards, the filter must capture at least 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns in diameter or larger. These filters are commonly used in air purifiers, HVAC systems, and vacuum cleaners to improve indoor air quality, especially in environments where allergens or pollutants are a concern. HEPA filters are particularly effective at reducing airborne allergens and can help alleviate symptoms for individuals with asthma or allergies.
Important Note: HEPA filters alone WILL NOT capture Gases/Odors:
HEPA filters are excellent at capturing particles but do not capture gases, odors, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs). To address this, some air purifier manufacturers will pair activated carbon filters to remove gases and odors.
